What is a tooth extraction?
A tooth extraction is when our experienced dentist gently removes a tooth from its place in your smile. While we strive to do all we can to save your teeth, certain circumstances may make tooth extraction the best option for returning your smile to good health.
Do I need a tooth extraction?
Dr. John Deakins may suggest tooth extraction if:
- There are too many teeth to properly fit in your mouth, causing crowding
- Infection has destroyed a significant portion of the tooth and bone structure
- A tooth is too severely decayed or damaged to be effectively restored
You can rest assured that we will not recommend tooth extraction when it is not necessary. Following your tooth extraction, we are happy to provide multiple options for tooth replacement.
